Halloween

Thank you for those parents who volunteered to bring items in for the Halloween party.  We will be having the party tomorrow right after the parade.  The parade will start around 8:15 and we should have the party around 9:00.  

Math - Measurement

Halloween Party Supply Update

I have awesome parents this year!!  The Halloween list of items is already covered.  The only thing left is one more basket of Blueberries.  I appreciate your generosity and the students will especially appreciate it on Friday when they are enjoying yummy treats and doing a couple fun games.

Wax Museum updates

The Wax Museum rough draft speech is due on Thursday, October 30th.  This should be about a 30 second write- up about the Historical Figure your child has chosen.  It should be written as though they are that person.  Please look at the information packet that was sent home for more detailed information.

On Monday, November 10th, the poster board or tri-fold with the typed report and pictures are due as well as the final typed speech. They do have to have the speech memorized  and they will be graded on the how well they memorize it on  Nov. 10th.

On Wednesday, November 12th from 8:30 to 9:40 the students will be in the MPR room where parents and students will come to see their outfits and hear their speeches.  (There is no school on Tuesday, November 11th so that is a great time to finalize the outfit you are wearing that will represent your historical figure.)

NEWSELA

 Great News !  I have signed up for our class to use the reading website called NEWSELA.  I would like each student to sign up on  NEWSELA  to help your child become a stronger reader.  This free website opens up a world of Current Event articles that your child can access immediately.  Our class sign-up code is DDYDEN.  CLick on the BLUE NEWSELA  link ABOVE and sign in as a students user.  I will give you more information on this great resource at the conferences this week.

  Once you get to that sight do the following:
1) In the top left corner of the page, click on the Sign In/Register link
2) Type your name, email address and the password you want to use
3) Click on the Sign UP Button and a welcome message will appear
4) Click on the Get Started Button

Parent Conferences

Don't forget that Parent Conferences are this week.   I like the students to attend their conference.   The students also get out of school at 12:20 every day. I look forward to seeing you all at conferences.

PARENT CONFERENCES : 
    Thank you to those parents who have responded  to my email about their Parent Conference Time.  If you were not on the list it was because you didn't sign up for a slot at Back To School Night.  Please email me at jenfisler@verizon.net with the time that works for you from the email that was sent last night.  I would also like you to still confirm the times that are already listed so I know that you have received the email reminder.  Thank you!!
    I would also like the students to attend their parent conference.  I think that it is very important that they hear what I have to say.  

TEN MARKS: 
   There is an assignment for the online math program,TenMarks, this week. Hopefully you still have the paper with your child's login information.  If for some reason it has been misplaced please have your child ask me for their information again.  I will also remind the students about getting this information from me again, if necessary.


  


  

Auction Basket

A letter about our class auction basket will be coming home tomorrow. (Tuesday, October 7th).  The basket is for the school auction that will be on November 14th.  Thank you so much to Mrs. Lietz and Mrs. Raymer for organizing this for our class!!

Parent Conferences, Astrocamp, etc.

 

  I sent a parent conference schedule via email for conference week which is next week, October 13th -16th.  Please respond to that email ASAP!! Thank You!

This week, the students will have their first Science test on Tuesday. Please remind them to use their study guide and book to study.  We will be reviewing and playing Jeopardy tomorrow in preparation for the test.  

The students received an important letter about Astrocamp last Thursday.  Please sign and return that document by this Friday.  We have to know who is planning on going by this Friday!!!!!      The payment is not due until November, but you can send it in earlier.  For those who can't afford to pay, we do fundraisers, like the pasta night, to pay for your child.  Astrocamp is such a wonderful experience and I really encourage every student to take thisopportunity to go.  We are one of the few schools in the district that provides this great educational and fun experience for the students.  Please don't hesitate to call or email  if you have any questions about Astrocamp.  

The students will be receiving information about the Wax Museum which is a research project that will be due in a month.  Please ask them to show you this information this week.  I will also go over this information with you at the Parent Conferences.
